The proposal moment is very intense and emotional. A memorable story, which will be treasured and told many times. Here’s my proposal story: my girlfriend at the time and current wife and mother of our 2 children, and I were at a Mark Knopfler’s concert. I waited for “Romeo and Juliet” – her favorite song, fell down on one knee, with a small jewelry box in my hand and whispered the magic words. The rest is history and thank Goodness that the products of our love are currently asleep, so that I can write this piece.
All in all, the male partner is supposed to take initiative with the marriage proposal to think something creative and the female is supposed just to want to get married. Follow some great marriage proposals examples of our clients and friends.
♥ At Niagara falls – the couple lives in Canada. In Bulgaria, we have the Krushuna falls, so we might adjust the idea.
♥ In a carriage at Central Park, New York
♥ At the San Marko square in Venice, at the dawn of a New Year
♥ On a hill above the town of Melnik, with a fantastic view
These are only part of the good examples as the best story is written at the beginning of this piece. Some men, though, underestimate the importance of the engagement ring and make other types of mistakes. They can delay the wedding for indefinite time and may even end the relationship. Follow 5 things you should refrain from when proposing marriage:
♦ Don’t propose without a ring. Of course, the history you have together and the proposal itself are more important, but the Ring is crucial. It’s been photographed, showed off, talked about with friends and relatives. It’s the main conversations topic of your partner for at least a month after the proposal. If you don’t have a ring, your marriage intentions might not look serious enough. So, even if you don’t respect the engagement ring, try your best to choose the best one for your girlfriend. If you are afraid you won’t be able to choose right, take one of her friends shopping with you and one of her current rings for measurements.
♦ Don’t propose too soon. You share great times together. Vacations, beaches, parties, and sex. She doesn’t mind if you want to spend the next Saturday with friends. And based on this, you decide you want to spend your lives together. We suggest you first move in together and test your relationship through difficult times. Otherwise, your stunning proposal might receive an answer – great, but let’s discuss it first.
♦ Be careful when proposing in public. There are so many terrifying incidents in this video that I am glad I am over the proposing part already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22ec8o7p2bI. Imaging the amount of time and preparation it took the poor losers and the humiliation after that. So, our advice – don’t propose on Gerena or other similar very public places. Alternatively, if you decide to propose on a stadium, do it discretely. After you hear the “I do”, you can take a walk on the stadium – you in your official suit and she – in her wedding gown and get to be as public as it gets.
♦ Before the official proposal, be discrete. Don’t discuss your engagement intentions before the actual proposal. If you do, there is a real chance she hears about your plans from somebody else. Imagine how would she feel if she hears the following from her best friend – How was dinner last night? Did Ivan finally propose?
♦ Pick the right moment. Your preparation is flawless. Romantic dinner followed by a visit to your favorite piano bar. You have the small box in your pocket and wait for the right moment. But before you start implementing your plan:
- Your girlfriend has a fight with her mom over the phone
- There is an ugly scene at the next table
- You feel that the alcohol that was supposed to provide that drop of courage you needed is somewhat more than you intended to take
If you decide to proceed anyway, your memories of your engagement night might include a stranger’s broken nose or your fall down the stairs. So, if you don’t really feel the moment, postpone the grand gesture for when everything is right.
In summary, read our and other advices, think the proposal through and follow your heart. Be conservatively creative and you will have the pleasure of listening to your beautiful engagement story told with the greatest excitement by your partner over and over again.
